Serene Bacigalupi

Born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, Serene graduated from Reed College in 2007 with a degree in Anthropology.

After college,  Serene became involved in her family’s wearable art business (www.kissofthewolf.com). With this opportunity, she became proficient in various textile design techniques including, Batik, Shibori, Serigraphy, and direct dye application. She has exhibited her surface design work at various juried art shows including, The Philadelphia Museum of Art Show, The Smithsonian Trunk Show, and Evanston Craft Exhibition.

While she appreciates an elegant aesthetic, she thrives on younger forms of art. Graffiti, street art, stencils, and folk art are the general influences in her work; particularly in terms of the materials she uses. Quentin Blake, Banksy, and Ralph Steadman are among the artists who have inspired her.

Serene currently works from New York, New York and she has a permanent collection in Highwater Art Gallery in New Orleans, LA.
