Leroy’s Place is an umbrella creative arts company under which are two immersive art gallery concepts “353 7th Avenue” in Brooklyn and “922 Royal Street” in New Orleans, as well as a related puppetry company. Steeped in narrative and imagination, Leroy’s Place seeks to reinvent the retail experience through brick and mortar spaces, and push the boundaries of storytelling through puppetry and immersive theater.
This role is for our 353 7th Avenue location in Brooklyn, NY. Leroy’s Place 7th Avenue is a unique immersive environment and a very popular gift shop. This location also enjoys an outdoor courtyard to host events, workshops and other community-centered activities. Our on-site studio allows visitors to peek into our creative process, and to take a piece of it home. This multi-purpose and interactive space ushers in a new era of art galleries, making Leroy’s Place a cutting-edge destination for art, humor, and design.

Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a reliable, creative, and outgoing person to join our team part-time in our 353 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY concept store.
As a retail associate, you will be customer facing and a “brand ambassador” for Leroy’s Place, helping to share the story of our puppetry company and artist collaborations. This will also extend to social media, where you will help create and share the brand story to build audience and awareness of Leroy’s Place on social media– Instagram, Reels and TikTok.
This position is varied, physical, and requires attention to detail. Daily tasks may include: taking inventory, processing heavy boxes of merchandise, helping with light production of brand products, crafting display signs, hanging art, and supporting online fulfillment. Flexibility, friendly attitude, and a willingness to learn is a must.

Previous experience in Customer Service, Retail, or Art Gallery is preferred but not required. This is a role with plenty of room to grow as you become fluent in the Leroy’s Place universe and our brand story. Having professional social media experience is a plus, but not required. Having general fluency and comfort with TikTok and Instagram is very important. Our ideal candidate has a knack and enthusiasm for social media storytelling to help translate the imaginative physical worlds of Leroy’s Place digitally. TikTok and Instagram are currently the platforms we are most focused on.
About the role
Both components of this role – retail, production and social media – are expected to take place in Leroy’s Place shop. Retail will be the focus when there are customers, production to support fulfillment as needed, but you’ll find there is often down time and this should be allotted towards social media work.
This role is currently for 2-3 days per week, with the opportunity to pick up shifts. Must be available to work one weekend day per week. This is not a seasonal job; applicants must be available to work through the Holiday Season (Nov-Dec). Being comfortable with a customer-focused position (including interacting with children) and working an occasional evening (weekend) event is a must. Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Customer service and sales for in-store customers
- Operating point of sale (Square)
- Taking inventory, processing incoming inventory, and restocking
- Product packaging and merchandising
- Painting signs and displays
- Light gallery work – painting walls, hanging art, etc.
- Support online fulfillment
- Physical elements of this position include walking to off-site storage to transport art and merchandise.
- Working with the team to create social media content including drafting regular posts, editing reels and TikToks in Capcut, Instagram stories posts.
- Focusing on engagement; what content works, what doesn’t and providing your strategic feedback
- Helping with events in the Spring and Fall (evenings)
- Becoming fluent in the Leroy’s Place brand story
Expectations about the Role
- This is a part time role; the expectation is 14-21 hours of work per week (opportunity to pick up more shifts seasonally)
- 2-3 days working in the shop; of which 1 day is a weekend day
- Retail and social media work to be handled in the shop; this isn’t a hybrid role
