Fronda, the towering, multi-talented swamp monster crafted by our creative team here at Leroy’s Place, has been making her way across the country, DJing at festivals and posing for photo-ops. You may recognize Fronda from our full length puppetry production, DOOMSCROLLING which just made a second run of performances last year at the New Orleans Giant Puppetry Festival. After Fronda made so many fans during her run at the puppetry festival, she’s been popping up at events and festivals throughout Louisiana and is now making her first cross-country tour where she’ll be taking up residence in Brooklyn for Summer 2025. We’ve been having so much fun finding the best ways to bring Fronda to life, and we’ve been working with three main activations that offer a full spectrum of this swamp monster’s magic. DJ Fronda !
When Fronda is in her DJ mode, she’s activated by three puppeteers so that her towering, 15 foot figure can spin the night away on her sculpted cardboard turntables created by Jacques Duffourc that actually spin! Her giant cardboard headphones fit perfectly on her head as she mixes alongside a live human DJ or with a curated playlist.
One of our favorite DJ Fronda moments was at Fete du Void festival Held deep in the heart of Oakdale, Louisiana, –a two-day camping, music, and arts getaway that celebrates creativity, mental wellness, and community. Fronda came to life as a DJ, spinning curated and choreographed playlists that had the crowd dancing under the stars.
Other than music festivals, this activation is perfect for dance parties, art events, and outdoor celebrations where DJ Fronda helps to create an unforgettable ambiance.

Adults and kids alike loved posing with Fronda at the Bayou Bon Vivant festival in Norfolk, Virginia, and it was a pleasure for us to participate in spreading the great energy at this event! With a daiquiri in hand and her oversized props on standby, Fronda was one of the liveliest festival goers.
And at the beloved Frenchmen Art Bazaar in New Orleans this spring Fronda emerged as an instant celebrity as tourists and locals got to snap pics with Fronda, puppeteer her arms, and soak in the whimsy of this larger-than-life monster.
STATIC INSTALLATION
At Raw Gras, an alternative art celebration hosted at the Historic Mardi Gras Inn, Fronda took a more relaxed approach. Installed in a hammock as a static photo-op, she provided a dreamy, surreal vibe—equal parts sculpture and chill mascot.
